What is the BSPS?

The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences Program (BSPS) at the American University of Health Sciences provides a rigorous and interdisciplinary degree program that will not only serve the role of a preparatory major for admission into a professional curriculum leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. In addition, the program will ultimately prepare graduates for career paths in both the pharmaceutical industry and the health care sector.

What is the length of the program?

It’s a 3-year (12 quarters) program.

What are the minimum requirements for admission?

You must have at least a high school diploma (not a GED) to apply.

What is the minimum GPA required for admission?

The minimum cumulative GPA is 2.5 for both high school graduates and transfer students. The student must also have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and no grade below “C”.

Do Advanced Placement courses help?

Yes. In fact, AP courses may be transferrable if your AP tests scored 3 or higher.

How many letters of recommendation do I need, and from whom?

We require two (2) letters of recommendation. We require one letter from a pharmacist or a science teacher.

Is pharmacy experience required?

Not required but it will definitely help. We encourage high school students to enroll in a Pharmacy Technician program via the ROP program at high school, to gain pharmacy experience for the BSPS program.

Can international students apply?

Yes, we do consider international students.
Applicants who have done academic work in countries outside of the U.S. must submit the TOFEL score.
The approved academic record evaluation for foreign transcripts will be required for evaluating the potential for success of that student.

I have already enrolled in a college or a university, am I eligible to transfer?

The BSPS program at AUHS accepts transfer students if they have completed at least two (2) semesters.

The cumulative GPA has to be at least 2.5 from nationally or regionally accredited schools. The recency of the transferrable courses is five (5) years by the time you start the program.

Is Financial Aid available?

Yes, Financial Aid is available to those who qualify.

What can I do with the degree?

The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) is a four-year undergraduate program offered by the Pharmaceutical
Sciences Division. The BSPS degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue technical positions in industrial, academic,
or other research environments. This degree also prepares learners to enter pharmacy, medicine, and pharmaceutical sciences in
a professional or graduate school.
